Berlin-born, soprano singer Pia Salome Bohnert initially studied classical guitar at the Julius Stern Institute in Berlin University of Arts. Afterwards, she continued her musical education as a singer at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Joern Dopfer and in March 2018 she finished her postgraduate vocal studies with the highest grades. Currently, she is working under the mentorship of the renowned soprano Christiane Oelze. Pia complemented her education studying song with professors Burkhard Kehring, Norman Shetler and Eric Schneider, and she also participated in master classes with Christiane Oelze, Margreet Honig, Ulla Groenewold, Brigitte Fassbaender, Thomas Hampson, Krisztina Laki and Klesie Kelly.
Pia performs in the areas of opera, oratorio and songs, with a repertoire that covers all eras. Her artistic focus, however, lies with composers from the Baroque and Classical periods, Modernity and the French impressionists.
After a number of successful university productions, she was offered diverse roles at the National Opera Amsterdam, Hamburg State Opera, Theatre Bremen, Theatre Osnabrück. She has performed in an opera production with the prestigious Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and is a prize winner of the opera academy Rheinsberg.
She is frequently involved in concerts around Europe, presenting oratorios in countries including Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Sweden, Italy and Germany. She won a third prize in the Johann-Sebastian-Bach- Competition in Greifswald and was honoured in the podium of young concert soloists. In 2018 she won first prize of the International Early Music Competition "Graun".
Her achievements in the field of song include winning the third prize at the ninth international song duo competition "Schubert und die Moderne", the second prize in the Gustav Mahler-Songcompetition and the first prize in the international competition "Verfemte Musik" for an outstanding performance.
Pia Salome Bohnert is currently the recipient of a scholarship from the Claussen-Simon-Foundation.
